We had to make the difficult decision to close down Pet Society so we can reallocate development resources to other titles that we hope you’ll have just as much fun playing. On June 14th Pet Society will be retiring on Facebook which means the game will no longer be available for play. There are still some games available to play on Facebook itself, such as Candy Crush Saga, but even these games have mobile versions (with Facebook connectivity), so you can play at home and on the go. In recent years, Facebook has moved many of its games to Messenger, since mobile has taken over these types of games. ![]() Zynga had earlier announced a cost-savings plan that saw the shutdown of 11 titles. COO David Ko blamed some of CityVille 2’s failure on a lack of lead time to properly test the game. The most notable closure was probably CityVille 2, since it was the sequel to what was once Zynga’s biggest hit. Players had been given a notice when opening the game prior to the shutdown. CityVille was shut down on April 30, 2015. It was closed down on February, 2013 just three months after the game’s release.
